Wall Street closes at a record for the first time since end of January
Investing.com – Portugal stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Financials, Industrials and Consumer Services sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI rose 1.35%.
The best performers of the session on the PSI were Mota Engil SGPS SA (ELI:MOTA), which rose 5.72% or 0.25 points to trade at 4.69 at the close. Meanwhile, Banco Comercial Portugues (ELI:BCP) added 4.00% or 0.03 points to end at 0.74 and Jeronimo Martins SGPS SA (ELI:JMT) was up 2.92% or 0.60 points to 21.14 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Semapa (ELI:SEM), which fell 0.80% or 0.14 points to trade at 17.36 at the close. Corticeira Amorim (ELI:CORA) declined 0.38% or 0.03 points to end at 7.77 and EDP Renovaveis (ELI:EDPR) was down 0.29% or 0.03 points to 10.31.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Lisbon Stock Exchange by 21 to 7 and 2 ended unchanged.
Shares in Banco Comercial Portugues (ELI:BCP) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 4.00% or 0.03 to 0.74.
Brent oil for October delivery was down 1.05% or 0.73 to $68.94 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.23% or 0.83 to hit $66.50 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.94% or 32.01 to trade at $3,431.81 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.18% to 1.16, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.22% to 0.87.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.34% at 98.60.
